Muay Thai training (translated as “Thai Boxing” – and often referred to as Muay Thai Kickboxing) originated hundreds of years ago in southeast Asia. It’s also known as “the art of eight limbs” because of the combined use of fists, elbows, knees, shins and feet.
Muay Thai Boxing is further distinguished from other striking martial arts in its extensive use of the clinch, allowing Thai fighters to use stand-up grappling to compliment their strikes. Because of its effectiveness, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighters typically favor Muay Thai over other striking martial arts. Even Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners will take classes to improve their striking abilities.
At our Muay Thai gyms, students include men and women interested in an amazing workout, those interested in the sport of Muay Thai, MMA competitors, Special Forces and Law Enforcement personnel.
